Born in Ohio and raised in Arizona, I found my home in the Bay Area while completing a Bachelors Degree in Philosophy at the University of California at Berkeley. My massage therapy instruction began in the summer of 2000 at the Southwest Institute for the Healing Arts in Scottsdale, AZ , where I specialized in Swedish massage. I received additional instruction at World School for Massage and Healing Arts in San Francisco. Since then, I have completed workshops in Deep Tissue, Hot Stone Massage, and Clinical Sports Massage at the Watsu Institute: School of Shiatsu and Massage at Harbin Hot Springs; Acupressure, Chair Massage, Pregnancy Massage, and Reflexology at the McKinnon Institute in Oakland; Craniosacral with Hugh Milne, founder of the Milne Institute, and Neuromuscular Therapy and Shiatsu, Acupressure, and Asian Healing Arts with Paul Pitchford at the Heartwood Institute, a highly esteemed, residential massage school in Humbolt County. To date, I have completed over 630 hours of instruction and have hundreds of more hours of hands on experience. I settled back permanently in the East Bay in September of 2001, became a Certified Massage Therapist in Berkeley, and began work on the massage studio at Hermosa Salon in Berkeley. After four months work converting a spacious storage room into a beautiful sanctuary inside a popular Berkeley hair salon, my full-time practice opened at Hermosa in February of 2002. Two years later, in February 2004, I opened my new location in Oakland at the Moss Studio. In April of 2005, I moved to my Studio 12 and then to my current location, the Tree House, in July of 2006. I am a member of the Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals. City of Oakland Massage Permit S07-080. |
